The future of work

The Future of work and our workforce

Employment in Tauranga is projected to grow by almost 50 per cent by 2048.  How well equipped is our region to meet these employment demands, and what will our future workforce look like?

According to a recent SmartGrowth report, we will face some serious challenges to supply and sustain a productive workforce in this period. (See the summary fact sheet below).

Lawrence McIlrath, Associate Director, Market Economics Ltd spoke on SmartGrowth Employment Predictions/Projections

He then joined a panel discussion on future thinking on work and the workforce in western Bay of Plenty with Helen Mason, Chief Executive of the Bay of Plenty District Health Board (the largest employer in western Bay), Dr Riri Ellis, General Manager Tukairangi Investments Ltd and Angela Thomas, Director, KPMG Enterprise.
