Environment

Working together to protect and enhance our distinctive natural environment

Our environment underpins the sub-region's diversity. Coast, dunes, estuaries, rivers, streams, harbour, bush-clad ranges, fertile agricultural and horticultural land - all this is ours to protect and enhance. The depth of information embraced by territorial and regional council planning and policy has enabled SmartGrowth to define environmental outcomes to protect, preserve and improve our natural features.

Much work lies ahead around groundwater availability, water demand, energy efficiency, monitoring and the provision of incentives for biodiversity protection on private land.
