Our projects
We have prioritised more than 80 projects. The next few years are focused on delivering some already-committed projects, including those designed to give more choices to people about the ways they can travel, while we work on the business case, design and investment for the next round of large projects.
Accessible Streets for Ōtūmoetai Peninsula
We want to make it safer and easier for people in Ōtūmoetai, Matua, Brookfield, Bellevue and Judea to cycle, catch a bus, or walk to key places within the Ōtūmoetai Peninsula, as well as travel into the City Centre.
The Connecting Mount Maunganui project works towards solutions to improve safety and access to, from and through Mount Maunganui and to create better links for more people to go by bus, bike and walk.
Fifteenth Avenue to Welcome Bay Road
The Fifteenth Avenue, Turret Road and Welcome Bay Road route links many communities and provides an alternative to the state highways across and around the harbour. We need to make this route more attractive to travel by bus, walking or cycling.
The Pāpāmoa East Interchange project creates a new motorway interchange to improve traffic flow and safety in the eastern suburbs, addressing increasing congestion and growth in the area.
The Tauriko Network Plan places importance on public transport solutions, walking and cycling, and local road connections to support growth in the area.
Building our Future. Cameron Road, Te Papa
Cameron Road is a key route in Tauranga, connecting people in the southern suburbs to the city centre. It’s a main arterial route and has many schools, businesses and the hospital located on it. We’re improving Cameron Road now, and to make sure it can cater for population growth in the future.
To create an accessible city centre we need to prioritise frequent, reliable public transport services through the area, supported by high-quality stops close to main destinations.
Takitimu North Link Stage One will connect Tauranga and Te Puna with a new four-lane expressway and shared path. It will improve safety, ease congestion and provide greater travel choice. Construction is underway and we are working to protect the route for Stage Two from Te Puna to Ōmokoroa.
State Highway 2 Omokoroa Peninsula
The State Highway 2 / Ōmokoroa Road intersection will receive a $43 million upgrade to address safety and capacity issues, and unlock housing potential in Ōmokoroa.
Rangiuru Business Park Interchange
The Rangiuru Business Park Interchange project will provide a critical piece of infrastructure to the Rangiuru Business Park. It will link the eastern and western Bay of Plenty regions.
Te Papa Spatial Plan and Mt Maunganui Spatial Plan, Ōtūmoetai 2050
These areas of Tauranga will see big changes in the next 30 years as growth occurs. Spatial Plans have been developed with those communities for the future, to make sure there are enough houses, ways to get around and community spaces for everyone to enjoy. TSP delivers the transport part of those plans.
